📍 The stunning Hook Peninsula is a beautiful outcrop of land jolting out off the south west Wexford coast. The peninsula has a diverse mix of magnificent sandy beaches, rugged rocky cliffs and limestone slabs giving home to an array of wildlife. The Hook Lighthouse still stands proud at Hook Head, completely intact and looking magnificent for miles around.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check availability and book my experience?
You can view live availability and book in by clicking on the “Book now!”-button at the top of this page. Choose the date and time of your preference and available times and the number of spaces available will then be displayed, after which you fill in your personal details and complete payment in order to confirm your reservation. You will receive a confirmation email within minutes, if not, please make sure to check your spam folder and mark us as “safe” as you will also receive an important reminder email.
When should I arrive?
You should check in at least 30 minutes before your tour start-time at our Booking Office. Please be prepared to wait for people checking in ahead of you.
What is the starting location?
After check in at our Booking Office you will then drive the short distance to the specified starting point of your experience where you will meet your guide. There is parking available in the village and at the starting point.
Do I need to be able to swim?
No, you do not need to be able to swim to join one of our kayaking experiences. You will always be provided with a buoyancy aid, which will keep you afloat if you are in the water and a guide will always be near to help you back into your kayak, although our sit-on top kayaks are extremely stable – especially our double XL kayaks.
Do I need prior kayaking experience?
Not at all, our experiences are suitable for all, ranging from people who have never kayaked before to experienced kayakers. Your little ones can join the experience in the middle seat of a triple kayak.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes, the minimum age for our Family Friendly Sea Kayaking Mini Experience is 5. Children under the age of 13 will need to be accompanied in a kayak by a parent/guardian. We have triple kayaks available for either two adults and a child in the middle or for 1 adult in the back and two children in the front – the middle seat is only suitable for children age 8 and under.
Are there weight/height restrictions?
There is a maximum weight limit for our kayaking experiences. The maximum weight limit for our single kayaks is approximately 140kg / 22 stone and the combined total weight restriction for our double XL kayaks is approximately 200kg / 32 stone. There are no height restrictions on our experiences.
Will we be in single/double/triple kayaks?
This depends on the ages of the kids in your group. Kayak allocation is decided by staff upon receiving your booking, this is why we ask for the ages of the children/teenagers in the group. You are automatically in double or triple kayaks, unless requested otherwise. Guides have the final say on the day if they feel any changes have to be made to make sure the whole group has a great experience. Children up to and including age 12 will automatically be in a double kayak with one of the adults in the group, children up to age 8 can join in the middle seat of a triple kayak. EXAMPLES: If there are two parents and two children in the group you will be in two double kayaks. If there are two parents and three children in the group, you will be in a double and a triple kayak.
Can the guide share a kayak with one of my children?
Unfortunately, this is not a possibility, as our guides will always have to paddle in their own single kayak.
Do minimum numbers apply for the experience to go ahead?
Yes, a minimum of 6 participants must be booked in for this experience to go ahead. If this is not the case we will be in touch to reschedule.
